Tracy Staunton
The Museum of Minutiae
A wall-print and sound installation commissioned by the OPW for the basement of the extension to The National Library in Dublin in 2004. The piece was commissioned to coincide with the opening of the James Joyce exhibition there in 2004. The wall-prints are images of stacks of newspaper archives; Irish dailies reflecting the everyday of the last century. The sound comprises readings of stories chosen from the archives. Stories reflecting the colour and mood of the time. The stories are read by four generations of my family. The piece is a reflection of the minutiae of the last 100 years.
